The SEAoK Young Members Group (YMG) is exited to unveil the first Continuing Education session of the year! Hilti will be presenting Anchor 101, a course regarding the basics of concrete anchor design and installation, followed by a hands-on demonstration! Lunch will be provided! UK Graduate students, EIT's, and PE's are all welcome and the event is FREE!
Course Description:
Learn about the basics of various anchors and the different factors affecting the design of an anchor system.
This presentation will provide an introductory overview of the adhesive and mechanical anchor market, including the fundamental principles of anchor theory, which includes applications and design basis. Various types of anchors, including product specifications and selection criteria, will also be covered. Attendees should expect to better understand the failure modes and working principles of post-installed and cast-in-place anchors under various load conditions and be able to evaluate the different factors that can impact the design of an anchor system. This course is accredited through NCSEA. Diamond Review for 1.0 hour of continuing education credit. Presentation to be followed by hands on installation of various anchors. Opportunity for hand on portion will be dependent upon number of participates and time available.
Presentation by Jason Hubbell who is a licensed PE in the state of Ohio. Before recently joining Hilti, he worked as a structural engineer in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas. He earned his bachelor’s degree (Civil Engineer) and master’s degree (Civil Engineer Structures) from the University of Cincinnati.
